End of Life Bucket List Finalist – Palliative Care Awards

We are proud to share some wonderful news – End of Life Bucket List has been named a finalist in the 2025 Palliative Care Tasmania Awards under the category Excellence in Palliative Care – Community Setting. This recognition is a reflection of our commitment to supporting individuals and families during one of life’s most important and tender transitions.
The Palliative Care Tasmania Awards celebrate individuals and organisations who have made outstanding contributions to palliative care in the state. Each year, finalists are selected from across Tasmania for their dedication, compassion, and impact in providing quality end-of-life care.

Recognising Compassion and Dedication

Our founder, Tracey Rusden, an experienced end-of-life doula, has been acknowledged for her heartfelt work with the End of Life Bucket List. Tracey’s mission is to help people create meaningful moments, fulfil personal wishes, and embrace life’s final chapter with dignity, comfort, and purpose.
Being named a finalist in the Community Setting category reflects the difference that compassionate, person-centred care can make outside of a clinical environment. Whether it’s guiding families through emotional conversations, helping individuals achieve bucket list goals, or simply being a steady presence, this work is about connection and respect for each person’s journey.

About the Palliative Care Tasmania Awards

Palliative Care Tasmania (PCT) is the state’s peak body for palliative care advocacy, education, and support. The annual awards recognise excellence across aged care, community care, volunteer service, education, and innovation.
The Excellence in Palliative Care – Community Setting award specifically honours professionals and organisations who deliver outstanding palliative care in community-based environments. This could include home visits, holistic care programs, and personalised support that goes beyond medical needs to focus on emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

Why This Recognition Matters

For the End of Life Bucket List, this nomination is more than just an award – it’s a validation of the importance of empowering people to live meaningfully right to the very end.
Palliative care is not just about managing symptoms, but about enabling individuals to reflect, connect, and celebrate life. Our approach blends emotional support, practical guidance, and creative ways to make the final months, weeks, or days truly special.
From facilitating last trips and treasured experiences to helping write legacy letters or plan family celebrations, we aim to ensure that no moment is left unlived.

A Message of Thanks

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Palliative Care Tasmania for this honour and for recognising the diverse and vital ways palliative care can be delivered in the community.
We also want to thank every individual and family who has trusted us to be part of their journey. This work would not be possible without the courage, openness, and love that you share with us.

Looking Ahead

Regardless of the award outcome, being named a finalist inspires us to continue expanding our services, reaching more families, and creating more opportunities for people to fulfil their end-of-life bucket lists.
As Tracey says: “Life’s final chapter should be written with as much care and creativity as every other part of our story.”
